It is unknown why they were not married in the church. Marie was naturalized when her husband was. Joseph filed the application for naturalization on Aug. 30, 1920, #35599. There was always a waiting period, however, it was finalized Feb. 2, 1922; #1478296. In 1912, at the birth of their daughter Mildred, they were living at 2846 S.
