Duplin County Court of Pleas 1798 to 1803
Duplin County Court of Pleas 1798 to 1803
These court documents show numerous sales of slaves in the years 1803-1804. Owners and buyers include Owen O'Daniel, Alexander O'Daniel, William O'Daniel, Charity Whitfield-O'Daniel, Jonathan Keithly and Stephen Herring.

    • Notes
      • There was substantial evidence to include Owen and William as brothers to Alexander. From Duplin County Wills 1730-1860 by William Murphy, entry #401, Owen was both executor and witness to his will. Also, Owen is the bondman for the marriage on Oct. 1, 1790 with Alexander and Elisabeth Graddy. In addition, William and Owen are married about the same time as Alexander. Also, Alexander names his daughter, Charity (the name of Owen's wife) and his first son, William.
      • I had originally attached this 1810 Census for William, buts the years just didn't fit:

        1810 United States Federal Census

        Name: Will Dannell
Home in 1810 (City, County, State):Duplin, North Carolina
        Free White Persons - Males - 16 thru 25: 1 [William]
        Number of Household Members: 1

Source Citation: Year: 1810; Census Place: , Duplin, North Carolina; Roll: 40; Page: 652; Image: 00031; Family History Library Film: 0337913.

If this is William, son of Fredrick and Charity, he is living alone (therefore his wife must have died) and the age indication is incorrect. He should have been about 47 at this time. [5]
