22 Jun 1930 was listed as the marriage date, but this is before he was born.

In Cook County, there is a marriage for a Charles E. Klima to Roberta Harnish on 5-18-1959. This date would fit his birthdate much better. Was his father also a Charles?

From Jan Blecha's birth record in 1827:
From the birth records of his children we learned that Jan Blecha was born in Suchomelka by Kladruby as the son of František Blecha from Prašný Újezd and Anna Bornová from Bujesily. First we looked for the birth record of Jan. As mentioned before, Suchomelka was a small hamlet near Kladruby. Kladruby belonged to the parish district of H?ešihlavy. There we detected Jan's birth record:

I feel like I need to change the birth mother for Frantisek and his other siblings. The birth record appears to me to show Anna Novakova as the mother. Anna was the first wife of Vaclav. I suspect that the second wife (Anna Ciprova) may not have had children with him.

I've spent a lot of time trying to link Joel Rainer to parents and other family members. The best documentation that I have at this time comes from the will of Amy Rainer in Sampson County, North Carolina, dated Aug. 1, 1833. That will lists a total of 11 children, one of whom is Joab/Joel Rainer. Amy Rainer was married to David Rainer of Sampson County, NC. Sampson County was originally part of Duplin County in the 1700's. It appears that the Rainer family was in Duplin County as early as 1763 when Daniel Rainer [Sr.] paid 40 pounds for 200 acres on the East side of N. east Branch of Cape Fear River, on the South side of Cypress Creek, at a place called "the Oak". I have used the census records, the will and the land records, and the close proximity of these families to conclude the relationship. Therefore, I am concluding that Joel Rainer was a child of David and Amy Rainer, and that David Rainer was one of the children of Daniel Rainer.

    PARENTS LINK:

The birth record that is attached is further evidence of the question that Jan identified. That is, this child is born in 1852, but the marriage record states 1856. The names of the parents, however, are quite clear.

This person was included as a child to Josiah based upon FTM disk. I now believe this to be inaccurate, unless she died as a young child and did not show up in census data. I will change Elizabeth to her proper family when I find her correct parents.

I later found her death recorded: Morgan County Kentucky, Vital Statistics: Death 1852-59 and this showed her father as Josiah. Cause of death was listed as "sore throat - quincy"

This person also has shown up in other family group sheets on AQ. If she indeed was born in 1845, she must have died prior to 1850. I'll list that death date until I have better data.

    Civil War in Kentucky

    American Civil War
    November 8-9, 1861
While recruiting in southeast Kentucky, Rebels under Colonel John S. Williams ran short of ammunition at Prestonsburg and fell back to Pikeville to replenish their supply.

Brigadier General William Nelson sent out a detachment from near Louisa under Colonel Joshua Sill while he started out from Prestonsburg with a larger force in an attempt to "turn or cut the Rebels off." Williams prepared for evacuation, hoping for time to reach Virginia, and sent out a cavalry force to meet Nelson about eight miles from Pikeville. The Rebel cavalry escaped, and Nelson continued on his way.

Williams then met Nelson at a point northeast of Pikeville between Ivy Mountain and Ivy Creek. Waiting by a narrow bend in the road, the Rebels surprised the Yankees by firing upon their constricted ranks. A fight ensued, but neither side gained the bulge. As the shooting ebbed, Williams's men felled trees across the road and burned bridges to slow Nelson's pursuing force.

Night approached and rain began which, along with the obstructions, convinced Nelson's men to go into camp.

In the meantime, Williams retreated into Virginia, stopping in Abingdon on the 9th. Sill's force arrived too late to be of use, but he did skirmish with the remnants of Williams's retreating force before he occupied Pikeville on the 9th.

This bedraggled Confederate force retreated back into Virginia for succor. The Union forces consolidated their power in eastern Kentucky mountains.

Result(s): Union victory (Indecisive, but Confederates withdrew.)

    Location: Floyd County

Campaign: Kentucky Confederate Offensive (1861) Next Battle in Campaign Previous Battle in Campaign
